Welcome to Saint Peters Catholic Church

A Country Church In The City

As a family, Saint Peter's Catholic Community is committed to the gospel of Jesus--love, justice and mercy. We express these values and utilize our talents by the celebration of the sacraments, on-going education, fellowship, and service to each other, and to the larger community of Council Bluffs, the Diocese and the Universal Church.

What's New In Our Church?

Parish Picnic
The annual St. Peter’s picnic will be held on Sunday, September 6th, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. There is a flier in today’s bulletin explaining the details. Please plan to attend, it’s a great community builder for our parish.

Confirmation
If you have a student who will be entering the eighth grade this year you will be receiving a letter about the confirmation program in the next couple of weeks. The roster of students that we have this year is quite large, thirty-two students. If you have an eighth grade student and you do not receive a letter from us, please call the parish office. The confirmation classes will begin on August 27th.

R.C.I.A.
The R.C.I.A. classes will begin this Wednesday, August 27th, at 7:00 p.m. in the social hall. If you have not yet contacted the parish offices but would like to learn more about the Catholic faith you can still attend these classes. Just come to the organizational meeting on this Wednesday.

Rediscovering Catholicism
We will begin a book study in September entitled, Rediscovering Catholicism”. The author of the book is Matthew Kelly. This book takes a look at our Catholic Church and leads the reader to rediscover the great treasures of our Catholic Faith. One of the things that I think lacks most of all in our church is the opportunity to study and discuss the treasures of the Catholic Church. I am hoping that many of you will join the book study. We are going to offer session during the day and in the evening. We plan to have the meetings twice a month. I urge all of you to sign up for this wonderful study. This will be one of the best programs we have offered. You can sign up after all the masses this weekend.

Men’s Prayer Group
The men’s prayer group meets every first and third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the rectory. Every man of the parish is welcome to attend. I am very pleased that in the last few meetings of the prayer group we have had several new members join the group. The prayer group is one of the best opportunities to share faith and to think about the things that are most important in the life of a Catholic man. This prayer group has been meeting for over six years. Of the many things that I do the prayer group is the a very rewarding experience.

Women’s Prayer Group
The women’s prayer group meets every Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Jacqui Rallis. This group is open to all the women of the parish. If you are seeking a wonderful experience of God’s goodness this prayer group offer you this opportunity. If you wish more information about the prayer group please contact the rectory.
