The committee discussed Summerfest. There were not as many parishioners
attending this year’s event but the total for the silent auction,
raffles, and the pastor’s auction
was over $13,000. We are pl=

with the results and hope to get more parishioners involved in next year=

Summerfest. The annual parish picnic will be September 9, 2007. The Parish =
Life
Committee will provide chicken, baked beans, and soda. Parishioners are ask=
ed
to bring desserts (A-F) and salads, vegetables, or other side dishes (G-Z).=

flyer will be printed to be inserted in the bulletin. There will be a cake walk, horseba=
ck
rides, helium balloons, bingo and raffles.
Religious
Education-

The committee reviewed the shut-ins list. We will be
collecting school supplies to dona=

Altar
Society-
Gladys Michalski.
The Altar Society held two meetings since the last Parish Council meeting in
June, one on July 5th and one on August 7th. The dates
for the Fall Rummage Sale were announced. On October 18th merchandise can be
brought to the social hall after 12 p.m. The sale will begin
Friday,
October 19th, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday, October 20th , from

will be in charge. We will need to select 4 new officers for 2008-2009. Rita

meeting. Members were reminded that we will need crafts, baked goods, and
canned goods for the Craft Table and Country Store. Three new members were
introduced at the August meeting. They are: Jeanette K=

Sandra McKeever and Maxine Marshall. The next m=

Worship
and Spirituality
August
12- September 9, 2007 and the Liturgy Corner for the church bulletin. Father will be doing a
special blessing for students returning to school at the masses August 18 &=
amp;
19, 2007.
Youth
Ministry-
Mark Beckman.
We trained 11 new altar servers this past summer. They have been
“shadowing” for 2 months and will get on the regular schedule in
September. There are now a total of 60+ servers at St. Peter’=
s. The
committee has selected Jesus Loves =
Me
pencils to give to the children at the children’s collection at Mass =
one
Sunday in August. We have gone over the budget and yearly calendar of events
for our Youth Ministry program. Our high school service group teen will host
and help at the Red Cross blood drive on August 11 in our social hall. This=
is
our 2nd year to sponsor the event. We are planning our high scho=
ol
Leadership Institute program and our high school service group projects for=
the
2007-2008 school year. Teens have been invited t=
o participate
in this curriculum and an informational meeting will be held August 12th. We
have added
a new component to our Me=
ntor
Program this year. On Wednesday, August 22nd, the First Communion
students/parents will meet their Confirmation partners/ parents at an ice c=
ream
social as a way to begin the Mentor Program for the year. We will hold a
special training for students in grades 1-7 who want to learn and practice =
to
be a reader at the grade level Masses this year. Training will be in the ch=
urch
on Sunday, August 26th, from
Knights
of Columbus-
Father Chuck.
We have applied for the star council but there is some question as to wheth=
er
it will be awarded because we sent one report in four days late. We are wor=
king
with the state deputy grand knight to rectify this situation. The annual

have moved the Knights meetings to Monday evening. There is a supper in
conjunction with the meeting.
We
are hoping to increase the attendance by having the meetings on Monday.
Buildings
and Grounds-
Jim Beck. We are planning a cleanup
around the parking lot of
weeds and trees. Signs to rem=
ind
parishioners to turn off cell phones during Mass are completed. Painting
around the social hall doors w=
ill
take place in September. The carpet in the social hall will be replaced with
commercial grade carpet tiles. The tiles can be replaced individually if st=
ains
won’t come out.

Finance
Council: Our
yearly financial report was issued. I will review the report for parishione=
rs
in September.
Bible
study is going well. There are about 60 people attending. We are doing this=
Bible
study in conjunction
with St. Patrick’s. Th=
ere is
a nice representation from both parishes.
Social
hall carpet: We have begun the process of replacing the carpet in the social
hall. I have asked several
of the ladies in the paris=
h for
their opinion on the carpet. Steve Beck is going to do a work up of the car=
pet
on
his computer to see what ea=
ch of
the carpet samples would look like in the hall. I hope to have the carpet in
the hall by the end of September.
Oktoberfest:
We have had several planning meetings for Oktoberfest. Gene and Mary Moffatt
are heading up
the Okto=
berfest
this year. Eric and Glee Ledger are the lead couple for next year and Pat a=
nd
Shelley Snook
are the mentor couple this =
year.
The tickets should be out by the fifteenth of this month. The big raffle pr=
izes
this year are five 42”
plasma televisions. I am hoping for another very successful Oktoberfest.
Confirmation
will begin on August 22nd. We are looking forward to having anot=
her
wonderful year.
