Members Present: Father Chuck, Jim Beck, Mark Beckman, Marian Brown, Mary Brockelsby, Sheryl Garst, Gladys Michalski, Anne Rohling.

    

Members Absent:= Rebecca Gaw, Dan McGinn.

 

8:10= p.m. by Sheryl Garst. Father Chuck said the opening prayer. The members present = read the mission statement. Motion by Mary Brockelsby to app= rove the February 6, 2= 007 minutes. Seconded by Jim Beck. Motion car= ried.

Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at = 7:00 p.m. in the social hall. Anyone wishing to join a committee is welcome to attend= .

 

Saint Albert School Board- Father Chuck/ John Cool/ Tom Liston. The Corvette raffle was a great success. It looks like we will clear $125,000. This will be a wonderful addition to hel= p us meet our budget. The plans continue for the St. Albert Auction with the hop= e of another successful auction. Two policy changes were proposed for not allowi= ng any activities at St. Albert from 6:00 to = 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings and not having any activities at St. Albert until after 4 p.m. on Sunday= . A meeting was held with the diocesan building commission on the new addition = for St. Albert. The p= lanning process is continuing. Father Kottas was chosen for the canonical administr= ator.

Parish Life-Rebecca Gaw. The committee discussed the Summerfest baskets. We are proposing a less expensive basket to get more bids. We are also discussing a 10 item auction= . We will have a margarita machine, food, a magician and a card game.  The St. Peter’s Summerfest pa= rty will be June 2= 3  from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Please note= the date change on your calendars.

Religious Education- Sheryl Garst. The committee selected the April Tr= ivia Corner questions. The Generatio= ns of Faith held on March 24th was attended by 35 families and a t= otal attendance of 93 people. The final = Generations of Faith meeting will be April 18, 2007. The topic is: “Easter Season: Living as a Disciple” and will begin at 5:45 p.m. All ages are welcome to attend. A <= st1:PlaceName w:st=3D"on">Vacation Bible School will be held= June 18-22, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with dinner provided. Volunteers will meet April 19th, May 10th<= /sup>, and June 14th in the social hall. Questions about a women’s retreat for later this year were discussed.

Social Concerns- Marian Brown. The committee reviewed the shut-ins list. Individuals will visit the shut-i= ns and deliver May Day baskets with candies and flowers, etc. We also discusse= d 3 baskets for the Summerfest: Hawaiian, Mexican, and wine.  

Worship and Spirituality-Mary Brockelsby. The com= mittee planned the liturgy for April 15- May 13, 2007 and the Liturgy Corner for the church bulletin. May Crowning will be on May 20, 2007.

Youth Ministry- Mark Beckman. We held a Virtus Child Protection training on March 31, 2007,= at the social hall. The mission/ service group put on the 9th annual Ea= ster Egg Hunt on April= 7, 2007. Several teens made homemade baked goods on April 9th to send to = our soldiers in Iraq. Members of this service group will volunteer at the first Victim’s Commemoration Ceremony through the Phoenix House for domestic violence and sexual assault victims. The committee has selected Easter Eggs with a speci= al wrist band to give to the children at the children’s collection at Ma= ss one Sunday in April. All of our altar servers are invited to a pizza dinner after church Saturday, April 14th and then to a Lancer’s hockey game at the MAC. This event is sponsored by our Knights of Columbus.= The 7th grade recognition Mass will be held on Sunday, April 15= th. The 7th grade year saint is Bernadette. The high school Leadersh= ip Institute group collected over 120 bags of clothing for their service proje= ct. The items were delivered to Micah House, Salvation Army, Phoenix House, Children’s Square, Trailblazers, Goodwill, and Mohm’s Place Thr= ift Store. Their graduation ceremony will be Sunday, April 15th. The spring Mentor Party will be April 21st. The Confirmation students will help their partners make a banner for First Communion. The Senior recognition Mass will be on Sunday, April 29th. Our high school seniors and their families will be treated to a celebration= lunch after Mass.

 

 

Altar Society- Gladys Michalski. The March meeting of St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary Society was cancelled because of a severe snow storm. The = April 14, 2007 = meeting will be the first meeting for 2007. The Altar and Rosary Society provided sandwi= ches and cookies for donors at the Bloodmobile at the Senior Center April 10th. We are pleased to carry on the tradition. Approximat= ely 90 people were served. We are in the process of planning the Rummage Sale. Merchandise can be brought in on Thursday, April 26, after 12 noon. The sale will be on Friday, Apr= il 27, from 8a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 28, from = 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. The officers will be hostesses at the May 3rd meeting. To celebrate Mother’s Day, the chicken dinner will be purcha= sed from Popeye’s Restaurant. All women from the parish are invited. They will need to sign up so we know the number of people to serve. The officers will schedule parishioners to lead the Rosary before the Sunday Masses duri= ng the month of May to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Knights of Columbus- Father Chuck. A hockey game is planned for April 14th for the servers. 25 serv= ers are currently planning to attend this event. Four new members joined our council and we need two more to reach Star Council. We will have another fi= rst degree initiation in April. The Knight’s will serve a Mother’s = Day Brunch May 13th.

Buildings and Grounds- Jim Beck. The committee met April = 10th at 7 p.m. in the = social hall. An erosion problem was fixed along the north wall. The sink hole in t= he parking lot is scheduled to be fixed by mid May. A drain was discussed to be added to reduce the amount of ice between the church and social hall. The s= teps leading to the social hall will be redone as well.

Father’s Report- Father Chuck.

Finance Council: We have discussed the insurance requirement for the events that are not sponso= red by the parish. We will continue to discuss this issue at subsequent finance council meetings.

= St. Albert’s will be held at this meeting.<= /o:p>

Holy Week: T= his years’ celebration of Lent and Holy Week were outstanding. I am very pleased with the response to all our programs and with the number of people= who attended the services. I don’t think we have had a Lent quite like th= is year’s. I wish to thank all of the ministers, and in particular the m= usic ministers, for making all the services so meaningful for all of us. There a= re not sufficient words to thank everyone for what they did. It was a great Le= nt for all of us. The Generations of F= aith program was an excellent addition to our Lenten practices.

Confirmation: The students will make= their Confirmation retreat this weekend by going to visit the churches in Shelby County. The students celebrated the ministries at Holy Thursday Mass and they did v= ery well.

Adult Faith Formation: Father Chris Reising will be present a program on the Catholic Faith on Thursday, April 26th, at St. Peter’s Church at 7 p.m.
